Carrowkeel is the name of the Neolithic passage tomb cemetery and is located approx 2 mile from Mc Dermott’s Bar & Restaurant, Castlebaldwin. An Cheathrú Chaol in Irish means 'the Narrow Quarter'. Circumstantial Carbon 14 dating places the tombs at between 5400 and 5100 years old, so that they predate the Pyramids on Egypt's Giza plateau by 500-800 years. This is a trek you will not forget with breath taking scenery on a clear day.
Lough Arrow is one of the outstanding brown trout fisheries in Ireland. It is famous for the quality of its trout and it was here that the technique of spent gnat fishing with dry flies was pioneered in the early 1900’s. The wild trout average 1 lb(.45kg) and fish to 6 lbs (2.7kg) are a possibility on the fly due to the rich feeding in this very productive limestone water.
